since i am flying high on my Free Find earlier today, i am going to post one more blog before i go to sleep. I love it when i discover mulitiple updates on friends blogs, so here's one backatcha!
Tomorrow i am going back for a check-up with the Plastic Surgery team. I am SOOOO hoping that they remove this bag from the drain collecting the Knee Juice. Its really grody...to the max.
I've got some more pix to help describe my daily routine of care of this thing, just so you can see what i'm up to these days. WARNING: there are two more graphic pix, but i'll put them at the very end, for those of you who don't want to see such GORE.
I don't blame you...i can hardly look at it either. Oddly enough, i can somewhat tolerate looking at a picture more than i can look at it for realz. I can't bring myself to do that yet; its still too raw looking.
Here is how i feel while they have my leg unwrapped, exposed and are doctoring it up....So, once a day i get to remove this hot ankle-to-thigh velcro cast. My Helper of the Week removes the bandages and gauze so that the wound can be cleaned. My mom passed on the torch of responsibility to Brad and my Dad this week. My lucky sister gets to take over Thursday.Someone has to lift up my leg because i can't put any strain on the knee, nor bend it. It's really hard to let someone lift your leg without contributing. Here, Brad is cleaning off the scars on the back of my calf.
BEWARE: Below comes the GORE: My skin graft, or FLAP as the docs call it!(!) came from my thigh. There is also a parallel incision above where you can see they took out a tendon. Still not sure where that went...but i'll find out.
The second pic is my knee, where they replaced the Cancer Divot with my calf muscle and newly scraped skin FLAP. ewww...i just noticed you can see the drain that's emptying out the Knee-Juice! That makes me squirm.
I'm told the swelling will go down.

It's healing, Smack!
It's been 5 days since I saw the new knee skin.
Nice pics ~
OMG! Wow! That looks a lot worse than I thought it would....
Hang in there!
not as bad as i was expecting. but i don't think i want to help change your bandages any time soon.
also, hooray for multiple posts! i love all the pictures, and am glad you balanced the gross ones with cute pics of Tready.
Thanks for the update and pics. Though gross, they are pretty interesting. What a nice family you have. Please put pics of Anya and baby when she is there. Next Sunday is the last Conchords. I have been laughing my ass off. I will make tapes for you when it is done. You will love it.
Maybe Amy, D, and I can come after Anya goes home. Let us know if that will help. And anything else, just tell us.
Love,
martha
oh my!
hopefully, you have some outstanding pain meds.
are you allowing pop-in visitors or should i call first?
UUHHHH....gross.
But thanks for sharing!
;-)
Love you!
more gross pictures!! :P But I don't think I will come by. I like the pictures, but I think I am not quite ready for the real world yet. :)
the page wouldn't change fast enough for me. I kept clicking and clicking. Now the image of the tube coming out of the side of your knee is forever ingrained in my head ... was that pus ... never mind. I don't want to know.
Thanks for the updates.
