WifeSwap...its a good diversion, OK?!

OH MAN! Either i've just missed this show alot, or this one is a hum-dinger. I just had to interrupt the regularly scheduled blog to start recording some of these quotes. Its too much!

For those of you who, for some reason beyond me, haven't seen this show, lemme see if i can squeeze in a description during a commercial. Two families are seemingly chosen based on their locations, beliefs, interests, neurosis', etc. The wives trade locations for 2 weeks, and if all abide by the rules, both families win $10,000. The first week they spend living the way the family usually does, getting to know everyone. The second week (after a Rules Changing Ceremony) the mom's change the rules, according to how she sees fit, and the fun ensues! Ultimately, after some delicious drama, lessons are learned and families grow closer. On rare occasions, the endings aren't happy. Almost always, the kids are happier...its the adults that are screwing things up and don't realize it.

One of the things that's so intriguing is seeing how different people raise their kids. Maybe i wouldn't be as interested if i weren't a parent, but then again, i was hooked when i was teaching, too. It really is fascinating to see how some people's "crazy" is the next guy's "normal."

This particular episode has been a gem: Of course the unruly hick family lives in Texas, and the other mom is from the city. This #2 mom considers herself to be such a Diva (its her "philosophy in life") that she actually changed her name to D'eva!!! All 4 of her kids are little clones, and she has even brainwashed/trained her husband to fall in line. Surprisingly, she has some good parenting ideas for mom#1. The Texas mom has 4 boys and lets them run crazy, even cussing at the parents, saying "Boys will be boys."

Like most of the shows, these families run the opposite extremes. In situations like this one, its really hard to believe that it gets so heated, then they actually thank each other at the end, often shaking hands. It could be the $10,000.

Here's some memorable quotes enjoyed over the past hour. i must be bored.

"Oh, he ain't never killed nobody. They just making memories"

"What makes you feel like a woman?" "Cooking meals, cleaning my house"

"I knew i was going to a different house this week, but i didn't know i was going to a doghouse"

"i'm locking up your eyebrow pluckin' implements"

"Don't match, Don't matter" -texas mom about her clothes

"i got 4 manly boys. THis s**t is gonna make 'em sissies" - texas dad about D'eva insistance that she tweeze everyone's brows.

"D'eva came to town and made these country hicks city slicks"

"i'm in a field full of crap, and he's driving around me in a car"~ d'eva
"Who gave him the keys to the car?"
"No one did--he hot-wired it?" texas dad
"Who taught him that?"
"I did" texas dad

"Naw, you don't turn this table on me...that is dangerous." d'eva

Saw it! The scene where she "turned the tables" was very staged. Nearly Springer. I miss Springer. What time does it come on???

I don't have television for that reason. I would secretly watch that stuff all the time and feel guilty about it later.

I love this show. I always try to wonder who they'd pair me up with, but then I realized I'm not polar enough. I don't know anyone can make me as crazy as the people on this show seem to make each other. I hope your poop has softened since your last blog.
