Ok, i'm home again. Today has been a blur of trying to get caught up with laundry, phone calls, emails and Tready time. I've been on the verge of losing my voice, too...i'm also trying to fight a cold, methinks.
So, I wanted to get this ball rolling, and here we go! I start radiation treatments this upcoming Monday. For 5 weeks, Mon-Friday, i'll be getting radiation in Houston. Since Sarcoma is a rare cancer, they didn't like the idea of me doing the convenient thing and getting the treatments here where i live. At least they have free parking there at the Radiation Center.
I met with the radiation team on Wednesday, so they could do a "simulation" of where the radiation will go. Now i have the craziest drawing on both of my knees; there is a big blue "X" on the knee where the bunion is NOT, then there are all sorts of blue and red lines, curves and dots on the bunion-laden knee. These marks are to remain for the duration of the 25 days. Also, as an added bonus, I've got 2 small prison-tattoo-looking black dots. I wore shorts today and got some funny looks. I'll be sure to include a picture soon.
I'm getting some things squared away this weekend, and then heading to Houston Sunday. I've wanted to get started for so long, but now it suddenly seems like its happening really fast.

i cannot wait to see the lines and squiggles on your leg. :)
maybe you should help the docs out and henna over the markings.
xoxo, sonnie
I know you have awesome support, but remember...if you ever need a change of scenery, HRD is right around the corner and here for you!
Will you be in Houston for the whole five weeks? Or can you come to Nac on the weekends? Let me know so I can play my par-taying accordingly. (When you are here, obviously...)
Good luck! Show that sarcoma who's boss!
You know, if they're going to ink you and insist you drive back and forth to Houston, you should at least get Pat Casey to do your radiation tatts. "Now where does this tubey thing go? Ah, yes, on the flaming dice. And this sensor thingy? On the snake and dagger, naturally!"
I have some music for your driving pleasure. I'll stop by your house tomorrow.
Can't wait to see the new ink.
Will you be staying in Houston during the week, or will you be driving back every day? How long of a drive is it from Nac?
Kirsten
Too bad gardening and swimming this past weekend erased some of that modern art on your bunion.
Get a sharpie and draw something to surprise them!
Miss ya already,
Cynda
