Gross Alert Part 1

Sunday i awoke to mixed emotions. My olfactory senses were first to arouse, noticing a very unpleasant smell. Groggy from sleep and morphine, i thought "well, at least i finally had a BM". Luckily, before my mind could fully comprehend how uncomfortable and gross that'd be, i realized the smell was just my breath! False alarm. That had been 2 days since i'd been able to brush my teeth....horrible!There had been so much talk, casual talk, about BM's that it was just the first thing that came to mind.

For instance, i was amazed at the nurse who popped in and announced: "I hear you've had a BM! That's great!" There were several people in the room, so i felt funny about how to respond. "Why, yes i did!" i said, while scanning their proud faces. I got a tinge of recognition of how my son must feel during his "potty training" experience. Maybe i'll knock the enthusiasm down a notch or two.
No wonder he says he'd rather stick to diapers. They are going to take out my catheter today and i'm not looking forward to it. That means i'm going to have to get up whenever i need to go potty...its been such a relief to not have to get up. (and, OK I"LL BE HONEST, i could drink lots o coffee and sleep thru the night). i realize that makes me sound the ultimate in slacker, but you would not BELIEVE the effort it took for me to get to the bathroom yesterday. i was seriously shaking, dizzy and out of breath. it was crazy.

i've got so much grossness to write about, i'm realizing i'm going to have to post another blog later; these people are ready to get me up and running. i gotta brush my teeth!

Ah the dignity! I ate as little as possible during my 4-day hospital stay, because there was no way in hell I was going in a bedpan.

it took me a minute to figure out what BM meant. then i laughed really hard. and actually, i'd love to be able to drink and drink and still sleep through the night. you don't sound lazy - just sensible!

Wow! I can't imagine what you are going through! However, it sounds like you are progressing and each day passed is one day closer to 'normal.' Keep those positive thoughts, we are all praying for you. Thanks for the update!

Girl! Brush your bicuspids & get that Chanel lipstick on!

It's time to make an appearance.

Better watch out or a PT tech might wheel you to the parking lot ~ Best load your purse (I know it's a big purse) with GOOD MEDS and all your freebies, just in case.

So glad you are back in cyberspace, albeit medicated as you are...

Dignity? what's that? i almost felt like my mom was fussing over me when she was trying to close the back of my robe for me. I mean, i was only going around the whole nurses' station with my bum hanging out! i just didn't care anymore...
